Troops Arrest Female ISWAP Collaborator in Borno

Troops of the 196 Amphibious Battalion, Operation HADIN KAI, have apprehended a suspected female collaborator of Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a routine security check in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

Arrest Details

The suspect, identified as Mrs. Kellu Alhaji Abba, aged 50, was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 a.m. on May 20, 2026, at the C Company 7 Platoon checkpoint. She is a Kanuri woman residing in the Lawanti area of Baga town.

Alleged Involvement

According to security sources, the suspect was intercepted while allegedly transporting supplies to her son, identified as Modu Mustapha, who is believed to be a terrorist operating within the Dumba general area. Items recovered from the suspect included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs, and one wristwatch.

Military Action

The military confirmed that the suspect is currently in the custody of the 196 Amphibious Battalion for further investigation and necessary action. Security sources added that while the overall security situation in the theatre remains calm, it is still unpredictable. Troops continue to maintain satisfactory morale and fighting efficiency.
