The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded a significant victory against banditry as its tactical team neutralized a notorious kingpin, Alhaji Lawali Dandumbulu, in the Lilo community of Wonaka district, Gusau Local Government Area.
Details of the Operation
According to a victim who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, the bandits had earlier attacked the village, killing one person, kidnapping nine others, and injuring one individual. Before the deployment of the police tactical team, Dandumbulu and his gang stormed the village with over 40 motorcycles, rustled more than 1,000 cattle, and burgled shops and silos.
“When the police team arrived with an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), the bandits were overpowered and forced to flee into the bushes,” the victim added.
Police Engagement
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Wonoka-Auta and Tambalawa axis confirmed that the police engaged the bandits fiercely, neutralizing two of them. “They killed the bandits’ leader, Alhaji Lawali Dandumbulu, destroyed his camp, and arrested four suspects, though three were later killed,” he said.
The State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the success. He appealed to the public to continue cooperating by sharing timely and useful information to help ensure a secure environment for all residents of Zamfara State.
