16 Nigerians Arrested in India for Illegal Activities

Indian police have arrested at least 18 individuals, including 16 Nigerian nationals, during a major raid on a farmhouse in Gurugram. The suspects were allegedly involved in illegal gambling and operating a large-scale, unlicensed liquor party.

Major Raid Uncovers Illegal Activities

The operation took place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Elegant Farm B-2 located in Behlpha Green, Bhondsi. Acting on a tip about a significant gathering of foreign nationals, police units moved in. Hitesh Yadav, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), stated that the farmhouse owner and manager had organized the illicit event but were not present when authorities arrived.

During the raid, officers confiscated substantial evidence. They seized ₹3.2 lakh in cash. They also recovered a large haul of alcohol, including imported liquor packed in 24 cartons and beer with an estimated value of around ₹5 lakh.

Visas Invalid, Deportation Process Begins

A critical discovery was the immigration status of the foreign nationals. All 16 Nigerian nationals failed to produce valid Indian visas when police requested their passports and travel documents. According to DCP Yadav, the individuals had been living in various parts of Delhi and had congregated at the Bhondsi farmhouse for a party starting on Sunday night.

Police confirmed that the Nigerians were actively engaged in gambling activities at the venue. Furthermore, the farmhouse management had employed two bouncers, identified as Brahm Prakash and Santosh Kumar, to serve liquor commercially without the required licence under state excise laws.

Legal Actions and Heightened Surveillance

The two bouncers were granted bail from the police station following the raid. However, the 16 Nigerian nationals were scheduled to be presented in court on Tuesday to be moved to judicial custody. DCP Yadav added that the legal process to deport them for visa violations would be initiated.

An First Information Report (FIR) has been officially registered at the Bhondsi police station. Charges have been filed under the Foreigners Act, the Punjab Excise (Haryana Amendment) Act, the Haryana Prevention of Public Gambling Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The case names the farmhouse owner, the manager, the two bouncers, and all 16 foreign nationals.

In light of upcoming New Year celebrations, DCP Yadav warned that surveillance would be intensified at farmhouses, clubs, and similar venues across the region. He issued a stern message to property owners, stating, “The owner and management will face the music in case any violation is found.”
