22-Year-Old Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Student Texts

Authorities in Osceola County, Florida have made a shocking arrest involving a young teacher and a middle school student. Yezmar Angeanis Ramos-Figueroa, a 22-year-old physical education instructor, now faces serious felony charges for allegedly sending inappropriate content to a 13-year-old student.

The Allegations and Arrest

According to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began in mid-October when the 13-year-old student's mother reported concerning communications to police. Detectives quickly launched an investigation into the alleged inappropriate contact between the teacher and student.

Ramos-Figueroa was working as a PE teacher at Central Pointe Christian Academy when the alleged crimes occurred. The private K-12 school has separate locations for middle school and high school, with Ramos-Figueroa assigned to the middle school campus in Kissimmee, approximately 20 miles south of Central Orlando.

Evidence and Confession

Law enforcement officials obtained text messages and photographs that Ramos-Figueroa allegedly sent to the student's phone. During questioning by detectives, the situation became even more clear when the former PE teacher admitted to texting and sending a picture to the victim.

The evidence gathered proved substantial enough for authorities to make an arrest on Wednesday. Ramos-Figueroa now faces two serious charges: distributing obscene material to a minor and transmitting harmful material to a minor.

Legal Consequences and Current Status

Both charges against the 22-year-old teacher are classified as third-degree felonies under Florida law. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison if she is found guilty, meaning she could potentially face up to ten years behind bars.

Currently, Ramos-Figueroa remains in custody at the Osceola County Jail. The court has set her bond at $5,000 for each charge, totaling $10,000. The case continues to develop as legal proceedings move forward.

This incident serves as a stark reminder about the importance of maintaining professional boundaries between educators and students, and the serious consequences that can follow when those boundaries are crossed.
