The Tragic Incident Unfolds
The fatal confrontation occurred on November 6, 2025, originating from what authorities describe as a small misunderstanding between the elderly couple. The argument started at a beer parlour located in the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to police reports, the situation escalated dramatically when the suspect allegedly attacked his wife of many years with multiple weapons. SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police command spokesperson, confirmed that Peter used both a knife and an axe during the violent assault, inflicting numerous injuries across the victim's body.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving an emergency distress call, the Adamawa State Police Command immediately deployed officers to the scene. The police team, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division, arrived promptly and transported the severely injured woman to the nearest medical facility.
Tragically, Miltha Jeriel was pronounced dead while receiving emergency treatment. Medical staff confirmed her passing at the hospital, and her remains have been transferred to the mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police authorities have confirmed the recovery of both weapons allegedly used in the crime - the knife and axe that caused the fatal injuries. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Official Condemnation and Warning
CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+), the Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, has strongly condemned the violent incident. The Commissioner has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case to ensure comprehensive investigation and subsequent prosecution.
In an official statement, the police chief issued a stern warning against all forms of domestic violence within communities. He urged members of the public to always seek peaceful conflict resolution methods rather than resorting to violence.
