Amarachi, the woman seen being violently assaulted in a viral video from Aba, Abia State, has spoken out about the incident, revealing that the attack stemmed from her refusal of the assailant's sexual advances. In an interview with human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, she identified her attacker as 37-year-old Agwu Ukpo.
Victim Details Harassment and Assault
Amarachi stated that Ukpo had persistently pressured her into a sexual relationship, which she repeatedly declined, emphasizing that she is a married woman committed to her husband. According to her, this rejection fostered ongoing resentment from Ukpo, culminating in a physical assault over a minor disagreement about a pot of soup. Ukpo allegedly used the quarrel as a pretext to launch an unprovoked attack, which was filmed and widely circulated on social media, sparking public outrage.
Legal Action Planned
Amarachi, currently residing in Lagos, announced plans to travel back to Abia State to file an official statement with the police. She is demanding full accountability and legal justice for the assault. The case has drawn attention from activists and the public, calling for thorough investigation and prosecution of gender-based violence.
