"He reported that his sister, Ms Esther Akwaji, left their family home on January 21, 2026, at approximately 3 p.m.," SP Adeh stated. "She informed her family that she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei but never returned home, causing immediate concern among her relatives."
Later that same evening, Mr. Akwaji received an anonymous telephone call from an individual who identified himself as Esther's boyfriend. The caller provided alarming information about what had transpired during her visit.
Hospitalization and Tragic Outcome
"The anonymous caller explained that Esther had visited him at his residence," SP Adeh continued. "He claimed that he purchased food for her, which she consumed, after which she began experiencing severe vomiting and other distressing symptoms."
The boyfriend reportedly informed the family that Esther was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital for emergency medical attention. Tragically, despite receiving treatment at the healthcare facility, she was confirmed dead by medical personnel. Police operatives from the Dei-Dei Division promptly visited the hospital to verify the information and recover the body.
Esther Akwaji's remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the precise cause of death.
