Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has made startling new revelations about the investigation into late singer Mohbad's death, alleging a deliberate cover-up and appealing directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for intervention.
Video Evidence and Presidential Appeal
In a dramatic video statement shared on his social media platform, Fabiyi disclosed that he had previously written to President Tinubu in May 2025 after receiving what he described as compelling evidence. The actor claimed he was sent a video clip that allegedly shows how Mohbad was killed, prompting his urgent communication with the presidency.
According to Fabiyi, the President's office responded by issuing a directive to the Inspector General of Police to thoroughly investigate and prosecute all individuals involved in the case. This intervention led to significant developments in the investigation.
Investigation Progress and Sudden Reversal
The actor revealed that following presidential involvement, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja took over the case from Lagos authorities. This transfer resulted in several key developments, including the arrest of multiple suspects and Mohbad's wife, Wunmi, voluntarily turning herself in to authorities in Abuja.
However, Fabiyi now alleges that the case is experiencing what he describes as a systematic cover-up. He claims that some of the same suspects who were arrested have now been encouraged to file petitions against him in Lagos, questioning the legality of their arrests.
Fear for Safety and Determination for Justice
Fabiyi expressed serious concerns about his personal safety, stating that he fears something could happen to him if he honors any police invitations related to these new petitions. The actor emphasized that the petitions appear designed to silence him and disrupt the pursuit of justice.
The suspects had previously been investigated for serious offenses including:
- Murder
- Theft
- Conspiracy to commit murder
- Conspiracy to intimidate
- Criminal intimidation
Despite the threats and intimidation, Fabiyi remained resolute, declaring that he will not be silenced in his quest for justice for Mohbad. He reiterated that his only motivation is ensuring that truth prevails and that those responsible for the singer's death are held accountable.
The case continues to generate significant public interest and scrutiny as developments unfold in what has become one of Nigeria's most high-profile celebrity justice campaigns.
