Dr Simon Stephen Mshelia, a lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAMB) in Adamawa State, has tragically passed away after collapsing on a road in Kaduna State. The management of FUAMB confirmed the sudden death in a condolence message. “It is with profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty God that the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAMB), announces the passing away of Dr Simon Stephen Mshelia of the Department of Geography, who departed this life today, 13th July 2026,” the statement read.
The university described Dr Mshelia as a dedicated academic and inspiring mentor. “Dr Mshelia was a dedicated academic, an inspiring mentor, and a committed member of the University community whose invaluable contributions to teaching, research, and service will remain a lasting legacy,” the message added.

On behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Senate, Staff, and Students, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bitrus Dawi Tarfa, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Department of Geography, colleagues, friends, and all affected by this painful loss. “As the University mourns this irreplaceable loss, we pray that Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, grants the departed eternal rest and comforts his family, loved ones, and the entire University community with the strength and fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement concluded.
