Authorities in Bauchi State have apprehended a man following disturbing allegations of sexually assaulting his own young child. The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) confirmed the arrest, which has sent shockwaves through the community.
Details of the Heinous Crime
The Bauchi State Police Command took 28-year-old Baffa'ji Abba into custody after a formal report was made at the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Habib, the incident took place on 30 December 2025.
Habib's statement detailed that a man named Baffa'ji Muhammed reported the crime on 31 December 2025. The report alleged that on the previous day, around 6:30 PM, the suspect lured his eight-year-old biological daughter into a bathroom. There, he is accused of forcibly raping her both vaginally and anally approximately five times in a single day, completely against the child's will.
Police Response and Suspect Confession
Upon receiving the report, detectives swiftly moved into action. The team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Alkaleri, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, immediately visited the scene of the crime.
The police's first priority was the welfare of the young victim. She was promptly moved to the General Hospital Alkaleri to receive urgent and necessary medical attention. Following this, officers arrested the accused, Baffa'ji Abba.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, as stated by the police spokesperson. This admission has added a significant layer to the ongoing investigation.
