The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Abubakar Abdullahi for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man to death in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following a fight between the suspect and the deceased, Moh'd Musa.
Police Confirm Arrest and Recovery of Weapon
The command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, August 23, 2026. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the altercation escalated when the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed Musa. The statement read: "The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that on 22nd August, 2026 at about 2300hrs, a report of culpable homicide was received from Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis."
"Preliminary investigation revealed that a fight ensued between one Abubakar Abdullahi aka 'DAN IYA' and Moh'd Musa, male, 25-years-old. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed the said Moh'd Musa," the statement added.
Victim Rushed to Hospital, Confirmed Dead
The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The command's operatives attached to 'A' Division Township swiftly responded, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife used as an exhibit in the commission of the crime. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Investigation and Next Steps
The suspect is currently in custody, and investigation is ongoing. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed a thorough and diligent investigation to ensure justice is served. He further urged members of the public to shun violence and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
