Tragic Incident at Family Entertainment Venue
A five-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after a wall collapsed and crushed him during a birthday party outing at a dinosaur-themed crazy golf center in south east London. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, November 9, at Sidcup Family Golf in Chislehurst, which has since been closed indefinitely.
Emergency Response and Injuries
According to Metropolitan Police reports, officers responded to emergency calls about a child being injured by a collapsing wall at the popular family venue. Paramedics treated the five-year-old boy at the scene before he was airlifted to hospital by the London Air Ambulance. Despite medical efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries.
A six-year-old girl was also injured during the same incident but has since been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment. Witnesses reported that staff at the center acted quickly to assist the injured children, with one colleague potentially saving the boy's life through immediate intervention.
Community Shock and Investigation
The golf center, which features a 46-bay, multi-tier driving range and two outdoor dinosaur-themed crazy golf courses, has become the focus of a thorough investigation. Officials were seen huddled together at the padlocked gates as they analyzed how the tragic incident could have occurred.
Colin Williams, a 67-year-old regular at the club, expressed his shock to reporters: "I'm in utter shock. I've turned up to go the club shop and can't believe it. The poor boy and his family. I have three grandchildren - it's so terrible. It's such a friendly club and the kids' area is very popular."
In an official statement, Sidcup Family Golf said: "We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time."
The venue confirmed they are cooperating fully with authorities and providing support to those affected by the tragedy. Police investigations continue as the community mourns the loss of the young child.
