The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the fatal shooting of a 54-year-old man and the wounding of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija, Ghana. The suspects, Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were taken into custody with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) following the incident on August 6, 2026.
Victims and Immediate Response
The victims, identified as Mohammed Rahman, 54, and his wife Christiana Fosu, 53, were discovered outside their four-bedroom apartment with gunshot wounds. They were rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija, where Mohammed Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife was subsequently referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment and is currently on admission, responding to treatment. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
Suspect's Confession and Motive
According to the police, Adams Adder Almeida admitted during investigation to shooting the couple. He told investigators that he was motivated by his belief that Rahman had repeatedly described him as "lazy and useless," which he claimed had affected him mentally. This alleged verbal abuse over time led to the tragic outcome.
Recovery of Weapon and Further Investigation
The suspect later led investigators to his brother's room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered from beneath the well drop. Police investigations established that Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, who works with the deceased, reside together in the same room at Tuba.
Search for Accomplice Gideon
Adams also told investigators that the pistol had allegedly been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon. He subsequently led police to Gideon's residence at Tuba, but the suspect was not found. The police said efforts are ongoing to locate Gideon, while Bala Bilyon remains in custody assisting with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of unresolved personal conflicts and the importance of mental health awareness. The Accra Regional Police Command continues to urge the public to seek peaceful resolution of disputes and to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
