A three-storey building under construction collapsed on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, trapping several workers beneath the rubble. The incident occurred behind Eternal Filling Station, opposite Chief Sam Ngbor Avenue, off Peter Odili Road.

Rescue Operations Underway

Construction workers were on site when the building caved in. Residents called for urgent emergency response, and officials of relevant agencies arrived shortly after to commence rescue operations. As of the time of filing this report, no fatalities had been confirmed.

Police Confirm Rescue of Two Workers

The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, stating that two persons had been rescued and taken to hospital. She added that rescue operations were ongoing to determine whether any other persons remained trapped in the rubble.
