Bus driver slumps, dies while carrying passengers in Ibadan

A commercial bus driver identified as Ibrahim reportedly slumped and died on Tuesday evening, September 1, near Apete Garage in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, while conveying passengers along the Apete-Sango route.

Incident Details

According to reports, Ibrahim was returning from Sango with passengers when the incident occurred at about 6:30pm. The bus stopped moving shortly after crossing Apete Bridge, prompting the driver to alight and inspect the vehicle. Some passengers also came down to help push the bus.

While trying to inspect the vehicle, Ibrahim suddenly collapsed and died before he could be taken to a hospital. The cause of his death had not been established as of the time of reporting.

Aftermath and Police Response

Fellow commercial drivers and residents gathered at the scene after the incident, while passengers were left to find alternative means of transportation. The incident has not been reported to the police, according to New Telegraph.

The spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed that the command had not received a report on the incident at the time of the report.

Unconfirmed Cause of Death

The death has drawn attention because it occurred while the driver was carrying passengers and attempting to deal with a problem with his vehicle. However, there is currently no official confirmation of what caused Ibrahim to collapse and die, and no medical cause should be inferred from the circumstances of the incident.
