Children Found Walking with Luggage on Marula Circle
The distressing scene unfolded on the morning of Saturday, December 6, 2025. The three siblings—a 12-year-old boy, his 4-year-old brother, and their 3-year-old sister—were spotted carrying luggage and walking along Marula Circle in the Trenance Park area of KZN. A vigilant employee at a local car wash noticed the vulnerable group and immediately stopped to help them.
Upon questioning, the eldest child, the 12-year-old boy, narrated their ordeal. He explained that their father had taken them from their home in Zwelisha, KZN earlier that morning. However, the journey took a disturbing turn when the father stopped at a tavern. Instead of caring for his children, he allegedly instructed them to continue to their mother's house on their own while he remained behind to drink alcohol. The parents of the children are separated.
Public Intervention and RUSA Rescue Mission
The compassionate car wash employee did not ignore the children's plight. After hearing their story, he purchased refreshments for them to provide some immediate comfort. Recognizing the severity and danger of the situation, he then contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for professional assistance.
Reaction Officers were promptly dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, they interviewed the 12-year-old, who gave them an indication of where his mother might be living. Armed with this information, the officers proceeded to the area, made enquiries, and successfully located the children's mother.
Mother Unaware of Children's Plight
The reunion revealed another layer to this troubling case. The mother stated that she had no prior knowledge that the children were being sent to her home. She explained that she has no communication with the father, leaving her completely unaware of the dangerous situation he had placed their children in.
