Security authorities in Yobe State have declared a state of emergency in the prison system after a convicted criminal serving death sentence executed a daring escape from lawful custody.
The Yobe State Police Command confirmed the disturbing development in an official statement released to the public, revealing that inmate Suleiman Bashir has vanished from the Potiskum Correctional Centre under circumstances that are currently under intense investigation.
Massive Security Operation Activated
Police Commissioner Garba Ahmed has ordered an immediate, full-scale manhunt across multiple states in northeastern Nigeria. Security checkpoints have been reinforced along major highways, while surveillance operations have been intensified in border communities.
"We have deployed all available resources to ensure the recapture of this fugitive," stated Police Public Relations Officer DSP Dungus Abdulkarim. "Our intelligence units are working round the clock and we're collaborating with sister security agencies."

The prison break has triggered alarm among residents of Potiskum and surrounding communities, with many questioning the security protocols at correctional facilities in the region.
