Residents of Angwan Durun-Uwa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into panic on Thursday after the decomposing body of a beheaded woman was discovered inside a sack at a refuse dump in the community.
Discovery and Police Response
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established as of the time of filing this report. Confirming the incident, a youth leader in Barkin Ladi, Danjuma Ibrahim, said he received a distress call at about 7:30 a.m. informing him that a body had been dumped at the refuse site.
“I received a call at about 7 a.m. that a beheaded body had been dumped inside a sack at the refuse dump in Angwan Durun-Uwa. We immediately alerted the police, who responded to the scene,” Ibrahim said.
Decomposition Hinders Identification
He added that the body had already started decomposing before it was discovered, making it difficult to identify the victim. He appealed to residents whose relatives were missing to report to the police, while urging security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
The corpse was subsequently evacuated from the scene, while investigations have commenced to establish the identity of the deceased and apprehend those responsible for the gruesome killing.
Similar Incident Days Earlier
The latest incident comes days after a beheaded corpse was found on a farm inside the University of Jos (UNIJOS). This has raised concerns about security in the area.
