Police authorities in Delta State have made a shocking arrest that has left the community in disbelief. A 54-year-old father has confessed to engaging in sexual relationships with his three biological daughters over a seven-year period.
The Disturbing Confession
Edward Odega, the suspect, made his confession at the police headquarters in Asaba on Saturday, November 15, 2025. The father of three admitted to beginning his horrific acts when his first daughter was just 12 years old.
According to his statement to authorities, Odega revealed: "I have three daughters, and I started sleeping with my first daughter when she was 12 years old." He further confessed to extending his abuse to his other two daughters, who are currently aged 13 and 15, maintaining these inappropriate relationships for the same seven-year duration.
How the Crime Was Exposed
The long-running abuse came to light through a police school outreach program. CSP Temi Agbede Zuokumor, the Divisional Police Officer of Ogborikoko division, was conducting an enlightenment session at a school when one of the children courageously spoke up about the ongoing abuse at home.
This revelation triggered an immediate investigation that led to Odega's arrest. The police spokesperson for Delta State, Bright Edafe, confirmed that one of the man's daughters had officially reported her father to the authorities, leading to his detention.
Current Status of the Victims
The three daughters, who have endured years of abuse at the hands of their father, are now aged 13, 15, and 24 years old. The case highlights the vulnerability of children within their own homes and the importance of community outreach programs in identifying such hidden crimes.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. The case has sent shockwaves through the Asaba community and raised serious concerns about child protection mechanisms in Nigerian households.
