Operatives from the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team of the Delta State Police Command have successfully dismantled a suspected cult killing network that has been linked to recent violent clashes in Ughelli town. This decisive operation comes in response to renewed cult-related violence and killings that have plagued Ughelli and other parts of the state, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities.
Intelligence-Driven Operation Targets Cultists
Following a series of recurrent cult attacks that have resulted in the tragic deaths of several young men, including the younger brother of Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, HRH Ojakovo Oharisi III, Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola ordered an intensified, intelligence-driven manhunt. The objective was to apprehend cultists and other violent criminals responsible for the escalating insecurity in the region.
Acting on this directive, CP-SAT operatives, under the leadership of ASP Julius Robinson, conducted a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of two initial suspects. These individuals were identified as Warri Ochuko, a 40-year-old from Orogun Community, and Lucky Okohwoake, a 23-year-old from Afiesere Community, both residing in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Confessions and Expanded Arrests
During interrogation, the suspects provided confessional statements and actionable intelligence that enabled police to launch a broader operation across the Ughelli metropolis. This intelligence-led effort resulted in the subsequent arrest of six additional suspects, whose identities have been disclosed by the police.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, a notorious cult group. They admitted involvement in the killing of Alex Adanike, a 37-year-old man, on January 15, 2026, at the Iwhrekpokpo area of Ughelli in Ughelli North LGA. This admission directly links the network to specific violent crimes that have terrorized the community.
Additional Arrests in Sapele Town
In a related development, on January 26, 2026, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a suspected criminal hideout at the Irapa area of Sapele town. This operation led to the arrest of three more suspects:
- Kome Temienoro, male, 25 years, from Jesse Community, Ethiope East LGA
- Ogaga Omogene, male, 17 years, from Ugbuwe Community, Ethiope East LGA
- Biokoro Francis, male, 42 years, from Okogborode Community, Sapele LGA
A thorough search of the premises yielded significant recoveries, including a wooden-carved pistol, a battle axe, a bulletproof vest, quantities of illicit drugs, and other incriminating items. Additionally, a white Toyota Venza vehicle, suspected to have been used for criminal operations, was seized by the police.
