Police in Delta State have initiated an investigation into allegations that law enforcement officers chased a young man who subsequently fell into a well and died in Ogwashi-Uku.
Incident Details
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu brought the incident to public attention through a social media post. According to Gwamnishu, police officers and a civilian hunter pursued the student through a hazardous area. The student, unable to see an open well filled with water, fell inside. The hunter chasing him also fell into the same well. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries before rescue could be effected.

The Police Complaint Unit has confirmed that a full investigation is underway. Authorities are examining the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
A video from the scene has been circulated online, showing the well where the incident occurred. The police have urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed.
