A horrific domestic dispute, fueled by allegations of infidelity, has resulted in a double murder and a serious injury in Delta State. The tragic incident unfolded in the Ighwre Ovie area of Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Machete Attack Follows Accusations of Infidelity
According to reports, the suspect, a mother of two from the Isoko ethnic group, had for months accused her husband of engaging in extramarital affairs. The situation reached a violent climax when the man returned home late and allegedly intoxicated.
The woman confronted her husband immediately upon his entry and attacked him repeatedly with a machete. Residents stated that the man died on the spot from multiple blows to the head.
Neighbour Injured, Girlfriend Killed in Second Attack
The violence did not end there. A female neighbour who bravely attempted to intervene and stop the initial assault was also attacked. She suffered a severe cut to her jaw and was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Still enraged, the suspect then reportedly proceeded to the residence of her husband's alleged girlfriend, which was located within the same neighbourhood. She gained access to the house and allegedly used a hammer to attack the other woman, killing her.
Police Investigation and Arrest
The commotion attracted other residents, and the suspect was subsequently apprehended. A senior police source has confirmed the incident, stating that the woman is currently in custody at the Ughelli Area Command.
Investigations into the double homicide and assault are actively ongoing by the Delta State Police Command. The identities of the victims and the suspect have not been officially released pending further investigation and notification of families.
