EFCC Arrests Suspected Fake Lawyer with Forged NBA Seal in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikoyi, Lagos, have initiated an investigation into a suspected fake lawyer, John Anoruo, for possession of a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Arrest and Investigation Details

Anoruo, who runs a legal and educational consultancy in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, was apprehended by EFCC operatives on Monday, April 20, 2026. According to a statement from the agency, his case originated from a petition he submitted on behalf of his clients against the management of Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited, dated September 22, 2025.

Investigations uncovered that both the petition and a subsequent Letter of Withdrawal dated March 5, 2026, featured a forged NBA seal. Anoruo admitted to obtaining this seal from an undisclosed business centre in Lagos.
