Anambra Police Arrest Evangelist 'Daddy GO' for Impregnating 16-Year-Old Girl
The Anambra State Police have apprehended an evangelist and General Overseer of a Pentecostal church, Favour Ezani, widely known as 'Daddy GO', on allegations of impregnating a teenage girl who was brought to him for spiritual healing. The incident occurred in the commercial town of Nnewi, Anambra State, where the 16-year-old victim, Miss Precious Okafor, was taken to the self-proclaimed man of God for deliverance prayers.
Arrest and Confession by the Suspect
Evangelist Favour Ezani was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), a security outfit under the Anambra State Government. During interrogation, Ezani admitted to the crime and confessed to administering a mixture of bitter leaf and other herbs to the girl in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy and avoid public scandal. He pleaded with security officials for leniency, promising to cover the girl's medical expenses if released.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to reports, the victim was handed over to Ezani by her aunt for special deliverance to address behavioral issues, without the knowledge or consent of her mother, who resides in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The victim recounted that the abuse began in November 2025, shortly after her arrival at Ezani's residence in the Amichi community of Nnewi South Local Government Area.
She alleged that Ezani repeatedly assaulted her in various locations, including his church, farm, and home, and threatened her life if she disclosed the incidents. The aunt discovered the pregnancy and, upon questioning, the victim implicated Ezani, leading to his arrest and current detention by the police.
Victim's Ordeal and Health Concerns
In a harrowing account, the victim described ongoing health issues, including bleeding from her private parts due to the herbal concoctions administered by Ezani to induce abortion. She expressed desperation for medical assistance, stating she lacks funds for hospital treatment. The victim, an indigene of Amichi, emphasized her urgent need for help, noting that her father is unknown and her mother lives in Port Harcourt.
Official Statement and Investigation
Karen James, spokesperson for the security outfit, confirmed that a report was filed by a security personnel from the neighboring Igboukwu community. The investigation revealed that the aunt had consulted Ezani about the girl's behavior after she relocated from Lagos, and Ezani claimed the girl needed urgent deliverance from spiritual afflictions. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to ensure justice for the victim.
