Ex-CAN Chairman Urges FG to Seek Global Support for Abductees' Release
Ex-CAN Chairman Urges FG to Seek Global Support for Abductees

A former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State Chapter, Apostle (Col.) Joshua Akinyemiju (Rtd.), on Thursday, called on the Federal Government to broaden its security strategy by seeking collaboration with international partners and global powers to complement ongoing efforts aimed at securing the release of the teachers and students abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

Appeal During Prayer Session

Akinyemiju made the appeal while speaking after a special prayer session held at the Government House Chapel, Ibadan, for the safe return of the kidnapped victims. The cleric cautioned against relying solely on military action in the rescue operation.

“This is a very delicate situation that requires wisdom, patience, and strategic planning. The use of force alone may not necessarily guarantee the safe release of the victims; rather, it could endanger their lives if not carefully handled,” he said.

Call for Caution and Professionalism

He stressed that the security agencies and government officials involved in the rescue mission must approach the situation with caution and professionalism. “What is required at this moment is a combination of intelligence gathering, strategic thinking, and divine guidance. Security operatives must carefully evaluate every option available to ensure that the victims are rescued unharmed,” Apostle Akinyemiju stated.

International Cooperation Needed

The former CAN chairman urged the Federal Government to explore broader security partnerships and international cooperation to strengthen ongoing operations against criminal elements. “The government should not hesitate to seek support and collaboration wherever necessary. Insecurity has become a global challenge, and there is a need to leverage international expertise, intelligence, and cooperation to complement local efforts and secure the release of these innocent teachers and students,” he added.

Akinyemiju emphasized that the current security situation demands a multifaceted approach, combining local intelligence with global resources. He noted that many countries have faced similar challenges and have successfully utilized international support to resolve such crises. The cleric also called on the Nigerian public to remain prayerful and supportive of the security agencies during this critical period.
