A 54-year-old mason from Kobrobite in the Weija area of Accra, Ghana, has been arrested by police for the murder of his 13-year-old daughter. The suspect, Isaac Adonteng, allegedly subjected his daughter Celestine Adonteng to severe physical abuse that led to her death.
Brutal Assault Over Food Theft Allegation
According to preliminary investigations by the Weija Divisional Police Command, the tragic incident occurred after the father accused his teenage daughter of taking food that was meant for her younger siblings. The suspect reportedly used a cane, a metal pipe, and other objects to beat the child mercilessly.
Despite the victim sustaining multiple injuries from the brutal assault, her father failed to seek medical attention for her. Instead, he confined the injured girl in a room, leaving her without proper care as her condition deteriorated.
Police Intervention and Tragic Outcome
Police officers acting on a complaint visited the family home where they discovered the young girl unconscious. She was immediately rushed to the Police Hospital for emergency treatment. Tragically, medical personnel pronounced Celestine Adonteng dead on arrival at the medical facility.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest in an official statement released on Thursday, November 20, 2025. During their investigation, law enforcement officers retrieved several items from the scene, including a cutlass and a metal pipe believed to have been used in the fatal assault.
