The federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction has officially denied any commencement of registration for a purported N50,000 National Support Allowance. In a statement issued on Sunday, July 19, 2026, via its verified X (formerly Twitter) account, the ministry urged Nigerians to disregard a viral message circulating in Hausa that claimed the government had begun enrolling citizens for the cash handout. Authorities described the message as fraudulent and warned the public against clicking on suspicious links or visiting unverified websites.
Ministry Urges Vigilance Against Scammers
The ministry’s terse statement read: "Verify any info only through official govt channels." It emphasised that no such registration process exists and that any communication suggesting otherwise should be treated as a scam. The warning comes amid rising concerns over online fraud schemes that exploit the names of government agencies to deceive unsuspecting citizens.

It regularly issues alerts to protect the public from misinformation and fraudulent activities.
Related Government Initiative: Skills Training Programme Launched
In a separate but related development, the federal government, through the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), flagged off the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme on Monday, July 13, 2026. The ceremony took place at the Government Science Technical College (GSTC), Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
The event was declared open by Bernard Doro, the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction. He described the programme as a flagship empowerment initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. In his keynote address, Doro stated that the programme represents “a practical demonstration of the unwavering commitment of the president to addressing unemployment, reducing poverty, promoting entrepreneurship, and expanding opportunities for Nigerians through sustainable skills development.”
Doro noted that skills acquisition is now an economic necessity. He added that the Renewed Hope Vocational and Skills Training Programme was designed as “a comprehensive pathway to economic empowerment and poverty reduction” and not just another training exercise. The minister highlighted the federal government’s decision to refurbish and redistribute vocational equipment that had deteriorated in warehouses as a bold step towards prudent management of public resources. He charged beneficiaries to approach the training with discipline and commitment, and urged training providers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability.
Other Government Support Programmes
In related news, the Nigerian government is providing interest-free loans to 22,000 eligible farmers for improved agricultural productivity. Through the FarmerMoni scheme, farmers can secure up to N300,000 without collateral, promoting economic stability in rural areas. Additionally, the federal government has opened a portal for interest-free loans and targets 2 million farmers with fertiliser support, guaranteeing minimum prices for produce.
The government has also arraigned suspects over the abduction of Oyo schoolchildren and teachers, released photos of the accused, and announced the release of National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results, with 10 candidates emerging as overall best.
