A devastating fire outbreak in the Gida Dubu area of Dutse, Jigawa State, has resulted in the tragic loss of two young lives. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, March 19, 2026, claimed the lives of two children, aged 2 and 6, who were the offspring of a staff member at the Federal University Dutse (FUD).
Details of the Fatal Fire
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, confirmed the heartbreaking event through its spokesperson, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud. According to the official statement, the first fire erupted at approximately 4:00 a.m. at Layin Dabinai, near Masallacin Malam Babba.
The inferno rapidly engulfed rooms where the two children were residing. Despite immediate emergency response efforts, the intensity of the flames made rescue operations impossible. The father has been identified as Aminuddeen Abubakar, an employee of the Federal University Dutse.
The exact cause of this early morning fire remains undetermined at this time. Authorities have indicated that a thorough investigation will be conducted to ascertain the origins and recommend preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.

Fortunately, due to the swift response of firefighters, the situation was brought under control, and no lives were lost in this second incident.
