Five Injured in Stabbing at New York's Penn Station

Five individuals sustained injuries in a stabbing incident at New York City's Penn Station on Sunday evening. The attack occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the bustling Midtown transportation hub, according to the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).

The FDNY reported that one victim suffered serious injuries, two had moderate wounds, and the remaining two sustained minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that an unidentified suspect has been taken into custody. Sources indicate the individual is believed to be emotionally disturbed and homeless.

An Amtrak spokesperson stated that Amtrak police responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect. A photo shared on social media showed police officers pinning a person to the ground inside the station.

Witness Brandon Norwood, who captured the image, described the scene: "This guy stabbed somebody in Penn Station. People were flooding out of the station." Norwood was waiting for a train when he saw the suspect stab someone near Track 1 of the NJ Transit boarding area. Chaos erupted, with people running and someone falling, whom Norwood helped up to prevent further injury.

A station worker, who requested anonymity, said he received calls to close the area and arrived to find two wounded men with blood on the floor. "It was real bloody, there was a lot of blood on the floor," he said. He noted one victim had bandages on his head and appeared seriously hurt, while another had a scratch on his neck.

The worker added, "It's New York City. Things like that happen, unfortunately, it happened down here. I can't say it happens here a lot because it doesn't ... it's a good place here, people trying to get home. I'm just glad it wasn't anything crazier than what it was."
