The Imo State Police Command has announced the arrest of five men in connection with a violent and widely condemned assault on a 55-year-old woman, Mrs. Ndidiamaka Agu.
Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests
According to a statement released on Monday, November 17, 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, the arrests were made by operatives of the X-Squad Unit. This swift action followed a direct order from the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, who demanded an immediate response to a viral video depicting the horrific incident.
The attack occurred in the Emekuku area of Owerri North Local Government Area. A source, who requested anonymity, revealed that the assault was an act of retaliation. The victim, Mrs. Agu, had previously assisted the police in an investigation involving the suspects, prompting them to target her at her own home.
Suspects Identified and Confess
The police have released the names of the five individuals currently in custody. All are male residents of Uboegbelu in Emekuku.

- Chiazor Osuji, 45 years
- Chukwuma Iwuala, 46 years
- Eugene Njoku
- Njoku Emmanuel, 35 years
All five arrested suspects have made confessional statements, admitting their involvement in the attack. The viral video that sparked public outrage also showed the men attempting to assault another woman who was recording their actions.
Manhunt for Sixth Suspect and Impending Arraignment
While five perpetrators are behind bars, the police have confirmed that a sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, remains at large. Operatives are intensifying efforts to track him down and bring him to justice.
Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma has strongly condemned the brutal assault. He reaffirmed the command's stance that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the police will not be tolerated.
The Imo State Police Command has stated that the five arrested suspects will be arraigned in court promptly to face appropriate criminal charges for their actions.
