Ralph Mincey, 63, allegedly shot and killed his 37-year-old daughter, Amanda McBrayer, and his wife of 38 years during an argument over the care of his elderly mother. The incident occurred in Oxford, Georgia, about 40 miles outside Atlanta, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
Details of the Shooting
Police responded to the home after receiving a 911 call from Mincey himself. In the call, Mincey stated, "My wife had told my daughter that I didn't take care of my mother. I do every day and, I just shot my daughter and my wife of 38 years." He added, "I just, I couldn't handle no more, the f***ing lying and the way they were screaming at me. I don't know, I just, I lost it. I'm so sorry. Thirty-eight years. I love her." Mincey also allegedly told the dispatcher that he shot his daughter with "a nine millimeter right straight to the head."
Victims and Charges
Amanda McBrayer was pronounced dead at the scene, while her mother was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later died. The sheriff's office confirmed that Mincey was charged with murder and other charges, and is being held without bail.
Witness Account
Adam McGrath, McBrayer's husband, told a police dispatcher that his wife was "drunk" and "upset" when she got into an argument with her father. He recounted, "I brought her to her parent's house, and then she got into it with her dad, and her dad said, 'I've got a gun… I'm gonna pull the (bleep) trigger,' then shot her in the head." McGrath further stated that Mincey then grabbed his wife by the throat, threw her down, and threatened to kill her as well. McGrath fled the scene, saying, "I literally ran away because I had two kids I've got to protect, and I'm scared to go back up there."
