A 16-year-old girl who suffered sexual molestation and exploitation in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been rescued.
Commissioner confirms rescue
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. She said the teenager was raped by eight men, including her guardian.
“The teenager, who was severely raped by these men, is now two months pregnant, according to a medical report presented by a concerned priest from Nawfia who reported the case to the commissioner,” the statement read.
Condemnation of the act
Onyekesi frowned at the level of molestation and exploitation the young girl endured at the hands of adults who were supposed to protect her. According to the teenager, her guardian forced himself on her every night, and others later joined in the act.
Rescue and arrests
The victim said that with the help of a good Samaritan, she was rescued last week, and some arrests have been made. When asked about the wife of her guardian, she said the wife is a stroke patient, while her sons and daughters are all grown, and some are married.
She said the police had arrested two persons out of the eight that molested her, while others are on the run. The case, according to her, is at Nawfia police station.
