The Osun State Police Command has initiated an investigation following the shocking discovery of a security guard, Basiru Aminu, found dead at his place of work in the Oke Ola area of Igbaye.
Discovery of the Deceased
The incident unfolded on Tuesday morning at approximately 7 am. Basiru Aminu's motionless body was discovered by individuals who promptly alerted the authorities. The Police Public Relations Officer for the Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, officially confirmed the event.
According to the PPRO, the initial police assessment did not reveal any marks of violence on the 38-year-old guard's body. He described the event as a "sudden and natural death." The matter was reported after Fasasi Adebowale contacted the deceased's brother to inform him of the tragic news.
Community Reaction and Ongoing Investigation
The discovery sent ripples of panic throughout the Igbaye community, sparking various theories about the cause of death. While some residents speculated that the guard might have been strangled, others believed a sudden health complication was the more likely culprit.
One local business owner in Oke Ola, who was among the first at the scene, recounted the somber moment to reporters. "We met his motionless body, and we immediately contacted the police. They came and evacuated the body. It was a sad development. People are already insinuating that the man was killed," the witness stated.
Another resident, identified simply as Risikat, who knew the deceased, expressed hope that the police investigation would unravel the mystery. She suggested that unforeseen health issues could have been responsible for the tragic outcome.
Next Steps for the Police
Despite the initial findings suggesting no foul play, the Osun State Police Command has emphasized that the investigation is still very much active. Abiodun Ojelabi indicated that an autopsy might be conducted to determine the precise cause of Basiru Aminu's death, ensuring all possibilities are thoroughly examined.
