Gunmen have kidnapped an unspecified number of worshippers during Friday prayers at a mosque in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The attackers stormed the mosque while worshippers were observing the Juma'at prayer, according to reports.

In June, another attack was reported in Pissa, where suspected bandits allegedly killed three people and set several houses ablaze. The recurrence of attacks has heightened concerns over the security of communities around Borgu and the wider Kainji Lake area.
