Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Ijaya and serving as the Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, has been killed after gunmen attacked and shot him in Lagos.
Attack on Ikorodu Road
According to reports, Ajiboye was returning home on Sunday night, July 13, from his childhood community in Fadeyi when he was ambushed by the assailants. The gunmen intercepted his vehicle along the Ikorodu Road corridor and opened fire, leaving the car riddled with bullet holes.
Sources familiar with the incident confirmed that Toba and other occupants of the vehicle sustained bullet wounds. While some survived the attack, Ajiboye succumbed to his injuries.
Details of the Incident
The attack occurred late Sunday evening, shocking the local community and the NURTW. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility. Police have not yet released an official statement.
Ajiboye was a prominent figure in the Lagos transport sector, and his death has raised concerns about security along the Ikorodu Road corridor, a major route in the state.
