Residents of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have been thrown into panic after gunmen killed four persons, including the Commander of the Organised Security Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC). The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Victims Identified
The deceased OSPAC operative, identified as Ozoemela Stephen Wokocha, popularly known as Boski, was said to be the Commander of the OSPAC Omoku Unit. Three women were also reportedly killed in the attack, while two other persons sustained severe injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital.
Attack Details Remain Unclear
The circumstances surrounding the attack remained sketchy as of press time, with security agencies yet to issue an official statement on the incident. A resident, who spoke with Nigerian Tribune on condition of anonymity, said the attack had created fear across the community, forcing many residents to remain indoors over concerns of possible further violence.
Community in Lockdown
According to the source, usually busy streets in Omoku became deserted shortly after the incident, while many businesses shut down earlier than usual as commercial activities and movement across the town dwindled significantly. The attack has heightened tensions in the area, which has experienced periodic security challenges.
