Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has released a fresh video revealing that two men seen in the viral footage of the Delta police killing are civilians disguised as police officers, not actual policemen. The activist named the individuals as Efe and Godwin and accused the Nigeria Police Force of a massive cover-up to mislead the public.
Details of the Revelation
Gwamnishu stated that the two civilians were wearing police polo shirts and were directly involved in the operation that led to the death of Oghenemine Million Ogidi, popularly known as Mene Ogidi. The singer was shot dead by ASP Usman Nuhu of the Effurun-Ovwie command. According to Gwamnishu, Efe even assisted the officer in reloading his rifle magazine during the shooting.
The activist further accused the Area Commander, ACP Aliyu Shaba, of allowing civilians to work alongside police officers, a practice he described as dangerous. He claimed that the police deliberately hid the identities of Efe and Godwin while focusing solely on Nuhu Usman to avoid scrutiny.
Threats to Life and Call for Justice
Gwamnishu also raised alarm over alleged threats to his life, recalling an old court case in Benin where he spent four years in prison for an offense he never committed. He called on the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to be unbiased and ensure that justice is served, including the arrest of Efe and Godwin.
Public Reaction
The revelation has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many Nigerians demanding transparency and accountability. Netizens have called on the police to produce Efe and Godwin, questioning why they remain unaccounted for. Some have also expressed concern for Gwamnishu's safety, urging the police to protect him.
Background of the Incident
Earlier, Gwamnishu had shared a video of the brutal killing, which drew reactions from celebrities and the public. The police confirmed the arrest of ASP Usman Nuhu, but Gwamnishu's latest video contradicts the official narrative, stating that the victim was shot again at the police station where he eventually died.
Gwamnishu has also visited the mother of the slain singer, who revealed that she had lost another son to police extrajudicial killing in 2022. The activist called on the Nigerian Bar Association and the National Assembly to demand accountability and ensure that the full truth is revealed.
