Prosecutors have disclosed that chilling handwritten notes, which contained explicit references to suicide and violent threats, demonstrate that a 20-year-old man was actively preparing for a violent incident when he attempted to bring a loaded firearm into a Sacramento Catholic church during an Ash Wednesday mass. His plan was thwarted when a parent observer, who coincidentally was an off-duty police officer, noticed a suspicious male adult approaching the front of the church. In a statement, St. Mary Parish praised the vigilance and professionalism of their parent volunteers, emphasizing that the children remained safely inside the church throughout the Mass and were completely unaware of the dangerous situation unfolding outside.
