The Kano Hisbah Board has launched a comprehensive crackdown on immoral activities across the state under a new initiative tagged “Operation Kano First.” The announcement came on Thursday, August 13, 2026, following the donation of 10 operational vehicles and 50 motorcycles by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to bolster the board’s operations.
Hisbah Warns Against Immoral Acts
Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Mujahid Aminuddeen, issued a stern warning to residents engaging in activities deemed immoral. “Those who go out doing different immoral acts in Kano should know that Hisbah has commenced ‘Operation Kano First’ and anybody caught will be arrested and face the wrath of the law,” Aminuddeen said.
The operation is part of the board’s mandate to enforce Sharia-related laws, promote moral conduct, and mediate disputes, as established by the Kano State Government.
Patrols and Reconciliation Efforts
According to Aminuddeen, Hisbah officials have already visited major roads in Kano as part of the operation. He stated that patrols would continue in the coming days to “enjoin people to do the right and shun the bad ones as well as ensure reconciliation among them.”
The initiative aims to proactively address moral issues in public spaces, with the board emphasizing its role in guiding residents toward ethical behavior.
