Hisbah Arrests 7 Cross-Dressers, Seals Popular Kano Joint in Night Raid
Hisbah nabs 7 cross-dressers, seals Kano joint

The Kano State Hisbah Board has intensified its crackdown on social vices with the arrest of seven individuals suspected of cross-dressing during a targeted night operation.

Night Raid Leads to Multiple Arrests

In a coordinated operation based on intelligence reports, Hisbah operatives conducted a raid at a popular entertainment spot located along Zoo Road in central Kano. The operation resulted in the apprehension of seven suspected cross-dressers who were allegedly engaged in illicit activities at the establishment.

Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Abubakar, confirmed the arrests occurred during the late hours of November 20, 2025. He revealed that preliminary investigations showed the suspects were all young men under 23 years of age who had traveled from different states including Kogi, Bauchi, and Kano specifically to participate in the alleged activities.

Additional Incidents and Previous Cases

During the same operations, Hisbah officials made additional arrests including a young man and woman found together inside a tricycle under circumstances deemed inappropriate according to the board's standards. In a separate but related development, the board successfully traced and reunited a previously reported missing lady with her parents in Sokoto.

This recent incident follows a similar pattern of enforcement actions by the moral police. Just recently, the board arrested six cross-dressers in the Gaida area of Kumbotso Local Council after receiving complaints from local residents. In that previous case, the suspects had confessed to their actions and appealed for leniency, but the board proceeded with appropriate actions against them.

Consequences and Ongoing Efforts

Sheikh Abubakar announced that the entertainment joint has been sealed indefinitely following the raid. Both the suspects and the operators of the facility will be handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and potential prosecution.

The Deputy Commander-General reaffirmed Hisbah's commitment to eradicating all forms of social vices throughout Kano State. He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or concerns to the appropriate authorities promptly.

This operation demonstrates the ongoing efforts by the Kano State Hisbah Board to enforce moral codes and combat behaviors they consider contrary to cultural and religious values in the region.
