A hit-and-run driver has killed two police officers along the Osogbo/Gbongan road in the Oogi community of Osun State. The incident occurred on Wednesday, and the police have launched a manhunt for the driver.

The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident on Thursday, May 28, 2026. He stated that the two operatives, identified only as Kehinde and Tobi Adedina, were traveling on a motorcycle when they were struck by a Lexus car in Oogi town. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle.
According to Ojelabi, the police have recovered both the Lexus car and the motorcycle involved in the crash and have taken them into custody. An investigation into the accident has been launched, and authorities are tracking the driver.
One of the deceased operatives has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites. The police spokesperson added that the command is committed to bringing the driver to justice.
The tragic event has shocked the community, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
