The Niger State Police Command has arrested Elijah Ahmed, a hotel employee, for allegedly stealing eight refrigerators from the hotel where he works. The suspect was taken into custody following a complaint lodged at the Tudun-Wada Division.
Recovery of Stolen Items
In a statement released over the weekend, the command's spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that five of the stolen refrigerators were recovered from the suspect's possession. However, the remaining three had already been sold to a scrap dealer in the area, who is currently at large.
According to the police, the suspect, Elijah Ahmed, resides in the Tunga area near Abdulsalam motor park. He was arrested by police operatives attached to the Tudun-Wada Division after the hotel reported the theft.

SP Abiodun detailed the arrest in a statement: "Based on a complaint, one Elijah Ahmed of Tunga, Abdulsalam motor park area was arrested by Police operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Div for stealing eight refrigerators in a hotel where he works."
He further explained the investigation progress: "During investigation, five of the refrigerators were recovered from him while he had sold three others to a scrap dealer in the area who is currently at large."

The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect has been charged to court for prosecution. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the Niger State Police Command to address theft and property crimes within the state.
Authorities are also on the lookout for the scrap dealer who purchased the three refrigerators, as part of the ongoing investigation to recover all stolen items and ensure all parties involved face justice.
