The Imo State Police Command has mobilized a tactical team to pursue and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the brutal killing of a traditional ruler and five other individuals in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Council of the state. The monarch, identified as Eze Ekwueme Paulinus Ekwueme of the Ochia Awarra community, was killed on Friday night by suspected gunmen. He was returning to his village after arriving in Nigeria from an overseas trip when the attack occurred at the boundary between Ochia and Assa communities. Residents reported being thrown into a state of shock and grief as news of the assault spread rapidly throughout the area.
The police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, described the event as unfortunate and noted that the identities of the other five victims have not yet been confirmed. He emphasized that the Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, ordered the immediate deployment of tactical operatives to restore calm and ensure the apprehension of those responsible.
