The Borno State command of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has announced that an inmate has escaped from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri. The command identified the escapee as John Israel, whose name appears on the prison uniform.
Public Urged to Report Information
In a statement issued on August 18 in Maiduguri, the NCoS Public Relations Officer, AB Thliza, disclosed that members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and provide any useful information regarding the whereabouts of the fugitive or any person reasonably suspected to be the escapee from the Maiduguri custodial centre. Thliza added that all credible information should be reported immediately to the nearest police station, Nigerian Correctional Service facility, or any other relevant security agency in the country.

Thliza warned that the public is strongly advised not to attempt to arrest or apprehend the individual. He asked that all reports be channeled through the appropriate security authorities. “Your cooperation is crucial to ensuring public safety,” he said.
