The Jigawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the discovery of a headless body in a bush at Shanya Babba village, Maigatari Local Government Area of the state. The grim find was reported at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, after local residents raised an alarm over the presence of the body.
Police Response and Scene Recovery
According to a police source, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maigatari Division immediately led a team of police personnel to the scene following the distress call. Upon arrival, the team conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area, during which the severed head of the victim was recovered.
The victim had no means of identification on the body, and the remains had already started decomposing, complicating immediate identification efforts. The body was subsequently evacuated from the scene and deposited at a hospital for further examination.
