Tragic Fall Claims Life of Promising Journalist

A young journalist met a tragic end while pursuing her passion for photography at a popular beauty spot in Argentina. Leticia Lembi, aged 33, fell approximately 80 feet to her death from a deteriorating cliffside staircase in Barranca de Los Lobos, Mar del Plata.

The Fatal Incident

The accident occurred on Wednesday, November 26, when Leticia was visiting the scenic location with family and friends. According to reports, she was standing on a crumbling concrete platform and an old staircase that leads down to the beach when she lost her balance.

The fall from approximately 25 meters (82 feet) onto the rocks below proved instantly fatal. Emergency services including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers rushed to the scene, but could do nothing to save her life. She was pronounced dead at the location.

Recovery Operation and Investigation

Rescue teams faced challenging conditions as they worked to recover Leticia's body while the tide was advancing. Prosecutor Carlos Russo attended the scene and has officially classified the incident as an accidental death.

Just hours before the tragedy, Leticia had shared happier moments on social media. She posted an Instagram story from Costa&Pampa, the country's first ocean winery located about 10 miles away from the beach. Her caption read: 'Here, playing the wine woman,' accompanied by a smiling photograph.

Leticia was from Tres Arroyos, approximately 170 miles from where the incident occurred. She held a degree in Journalism and Social Communication from the National University of La Plata and worked as a digital marketer. Previously, she served as a correspondent for the local newspaper La Voz del Pueblo in 2020.
