Kano Hisbah Arrests Man for Trafficking Two Girls to Arab Countries

Arrest Made in Kano Over Suspected Human Trafficking

The Kano State Hisbah Board has apprehended a 25-year-old man, Bala Haruna, for allegedly attempting to traffic two girls to Arab countries for domestic work. The arrest was made on Thursday in one of the car parks in the city, according to Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, Deputy Commander General of the Board.

Details of the Suspect and Victims

Aminuddeen disclosed the arrest on Friday, July 3, 2026. The suspect hails from Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State. He was taken into custody alongside two girls: Fatima Safiyanu, 23, from Daura in Katsina State, and Hasiya Haruna, 11, from Kazaure in Jigawa State.

Dr. Aminuddeen stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover how the trip was arranged and to ensure appropriate legal action is taken. The board has since handed over the individuals to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further action.

The Hisbah Board has issued a warning to women, parents, and the general public to be cautious of persons recruiting people for domestic work abroad. They urged everyone to verify the authenticity of any job offers before accepting them to avoid falling victim to trafficking.
