Officials of the Hisbah Agency under the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Kebbi State have apprehended a man for concealing a young woman in a hotel located in Birnin Kebbi. Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl had been reported missing by her parents.
The agency’s director of Shari’a, Malam Sirajo Kamba, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday, May 29, 2026. According to Kamba, the suspect, who hails from Abuja, allegedly hid the girl in a hotel after she left her parents’ residence in the Rafin Atiku Villa area of Birnin Kebbi metropolis without their knowledge.
Kamba further stated that the two suspects had spent two days in the hotel. Upon interrogation, they confirmed that they were not married, which contravenes both Islamic teachings and cultural practices in the state. The director emphasized the importance of parental vigilance, particularly regarding the movements of female children, and urged parents to always keep a watchful eye on their children.
