Kebbi Hisbah Rescues Abandoned Baby

The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has rescued an infant who was abandoned behind Zinari Hotel in Birnin Kebbi. Director of Shari’a at the Kebbi State Hisbah Board, Surajo Usman Kamba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, July 20, 2026. According to Kamba, the commission received a report indicating that a baby was abandoned in the area on Monday morning.

Rescue and Immediate Care

“The baby, who was found in desperate condition, was rescued and necessary measures have been taken to ensure his safety,” the statement read. The baby was transferred to the appropriate center for urgent care, as security agencies began investigations to identify those involved in the incident.

Appeal for Community Cooperation

Hisbah is calling on the community to continue cooperating by reporting anything that will help protect lives and dignity of the community. “Also, the Commission urges parents and caregivers to be disciplined and seek legal solutions to any problem, instead of committing such crimes against religion and law,” Kamba said.
