Kebbi Police Arrest Two Nurses Over Wrong Injection That Killed Two Sisters

The police in Kebbi State have taken two nurses into custody following the tragic deaths of two sisters, aged three and six, who allegedly received incorrect medication at the General Hospital in Zuru. The young girls passed away on March 18 under circumstances pointing to suspected negligence during their medical treatment at the healthcare facility.

Investigation and Government Response

In response to this heartbreaking incident, the Kebbi State Government has established a nine-member investigative panel. This panel is chaired by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, and aims to thoroughly examine the events leading to the fatalities. Additionally, the state government has provided a donation of N10 million to the grieving family as a gesture of support and solidarity during this difficult time.

During the presentation of the donation at the Emir’s Palace in Zuru, Commissioner Ahmed emphasized that the financial assistance is intended to help the family cope with the trauma of their loss. He stated, "This donation is to assist the family in coping with the trauma of this tragic loss. It is not, and cannot be, a replacement for the lives lost. No amount of money can replace this irreparable loss, but we hope this gesture will show that the family is not alone and has not been neglected."
